Do I have to register in order to participate in the Buddy Walk?
Yes, we want to know you're walking with us.

Is there a registration fee for the Greater Charlotte Buddy Walk?
No, there is no fee to sign up and participate in our annual event.  In lieu of a registration fee when expect our participants to help us fundraise. No donation amount is too small. You are all a valuable part of our Ds community and we need your help! 

Does every walker get a T-shirt?
Every registered team that raises at least $100 or that has 15+ registered team members no later than September 12th, will receive t-shirts for their team members. Individual participants who raise at least $10 no later than September 19th will receive a t-shirt.  As an alternative to our traditional Buddy Walk event t-shirts, we encourage teams to be creative and create their own t-shirts to show their team spirit. Reducing the amount of event t-shirts we need to print will allow us to allocate those funds directly to programs and services. Other ways to show team spirit include having a team theme such as "superheroes", "disney", "silly hats", "music makers", etc. We will be acknowledging the teams with the most creative shirts/themes and teams with the most spirit on the day of the event!

Do I need to register my children for the Walk?

Yes, if your children are participating in the walk they need to be registered.

When do I get my T-shirt?
The week leading up to the Buddy Walk, the DSA of Greater Charlotte will hold "T-Shirt Week" at our offices.  It will give Team Captains the opportunity to pick up all of the shirts for their registered team members.  It is the Captains' responsibility (or a designated person on the team) to get the shirts and distribute to each team member.  Specific dates and times for pick up will be posted the first week of October.  For virtual participants who live OUTSIDE our area, contact us about how to receive our t-shirts.

I'm trying to register and I'm having trouble logging in.  What do I do?
You can reset your password by following the instructions.  It may take at least 5 minutes to receive the email alert with reset information. Or you can call our offices and we will reset your password and get you started.

What time does the virtual walk start?

VIRTUAL OPENING CEREMONIES take place on Saturday, 10/10, at 3:21 pm with Kristen Hampton as our emcee, special guests appearance, sponsor spotlights, raffles and MUCH MORE!

Teams will have 21 days (signifying the 3 rd  copy of the 21 st  chromosome), from 10/10 through 10/31, to celebrate and  WALK THEIR OWN WAYS  - in their neighborhood, community, local park, backyard cookout, ice cream socials, etc. Teams can share their celebrations live via their team portal and on social media using the  #BUDDYWALKCHARLOTTE  hashtag! Each registered team will get a Buddy Walk Box with items to help make their community celebration & walk EXTRA SPECIAL!
 
 
Also during the 21 days of Buddy Walk, we will have a  SCAVENGER HUNT  throughout our community! Teams will be given a list of items to find throughout their homes, their neighborhoods, and the Greater Charlotte area! This will be a fun, safe way to get out and explore our community and all it has to offer, as well as visit our sponsors. Stay tuned for details about the 21 Days of Buddy Walk Scavenger Hunt!
 
 
On Saturday, 10/31, starting at 3:21pm, we will celebrate with a  BUDDY WALK CAR PARADE  at Elevation Church’s Blakeney campus! Top teams and sponsors will be showcased on the big screen at this celebration! Teams (2-vehicle limit per team) can decorate their vehicles, wear their best costumes (It is Halloween!), enjoy a live DJ, see mascots and other costumed characters from the safety of their own vehicles! We will also host a “Trunk or Treat” option to celebrate Halloween – with goodies delivered directly to each car.
